Piercing Description
Surface piercings are revolutionary piercings that allow the surface of the skin to be pierced, unlike traditional piercings that traverse though body parts. Here at TBP we do these with "surface bars" - a unique piece of jewelry that allows for this piercing technique to be best executed. Surface bars are staple shaped and are tapped internally threaded on both ends. These piercings are common to see on the cheek bone, side burn, etc. Similar to microdermals, these piercings should not/can not be placed in locations with a pulse or where the skin bends/creases/folds (example: the elbow). Here at TBP we offer surface piercings above the wrist and from the belt line up.
Lastly, surface piercings are considered "long term - temporary piercings"; they can, and often do, eventually begin to reject over time. Surface piercings can last anywhere from months to 10+ years depending on how well it is taken care of, avoiding trauma like snags, your own individual body and thoughtful placement at the time of your appointment.
