Appointment Information

  • Infant lobe piercings are performed only outside of normal business hours (before or after hours)
  • This service is performed only by our owner, Jessica
  • It is best if there is no other children aside from the child being pierced at the time of the appointment, although if more kids are present we suggest either bringing toys/tools to entertain them and/or another adult to help keep an eye on them. This service requires participation of the parent/guardian
  • Appointments begin exactly at the scheduled time - late arrivals may be turned away
  • No outside jewelry is permitted

Safety Standards

  • We never use piercing guns
  • We use only implant-grade titanium and solid gold jewelry
  • We follow aseptic procedures that exceed state requirements

Important Medical & Placement Information

  • Your infant will feel some pain/discomfort and may cry (similar to vaccinations)
  • Infants are more susceptible to infection and require the parents to abide by our aftercare instructions in order to avoid infection
  • Scar tissue and keloids - as with all piercings/tattoos/etc. are possible, though not likely in our experience piercing babies, kids and adults
  • Growth and growth spurts may affect placement as your baby grows
  • Perfect placement cannot be guaranteed, babies are naturally wiggly and can sometimes move during marking and the piercing itself - to help prevent this, and to help make this process easier, we recommend the following:
    • Bring a clean, freshly washed blanket or two in order to be able to swaddle (additionally, familiar items like blankets are often comforting to infants)
    • Bring toys to distract your infant. Marking is able to be done more precisely if your infant turns their head away from the piercer while marking, so calling their attention in the opposite direction with a toy tends to aid in the marking and prep process.
    • If your baby is asleep at your appointment time, don't wake them. In fact, it is best if they are asleep at the time of the appointment but not necessary.
    • Feeding your infant in-between and after their piercings tends to help ease them.

Pros of Infant Earlobe Piercing

  • They can look great and jewelry is fun
  • Tradition and culture are the most common reasons families choose this service
  • Having them done at Tacoma’s Best Piercing is significantly safer than mall kiosks, jewelry stores, doctors’ offices that use piercing guns, or any gun-based method
  • Your child will likely heal them successfully, not need to have them done again later or fear their piercings closing when/if they take them out when they are older.

We strongly encourage all parents to research and carefully consider all medical, social, and personal factors before proceeding.

Social & Personal Considerations

  • This is an elective cosmetic procedure
  • Some people view infant ear piercing as outdated or unfair
  • We are a judgment-free studio and respect each family’s decision, we think that it's great that you are looking into having them done the safest, best way possible!
