Appointment: Earlobes (0-9 months) - Infant/Baby earlobes

Piercing Description

A gentle, professional, and safety-focused first piercing experience for your baby.

At Tacoma’s Best Piercing, we specialize in infant earlobe piercings for babies ages 0–9 months. We use professional piercing techniques, sterile equipment, and jewelry specifically selected for initial healing.

Your baby’s piercing is performed by our owner, Jessica, who has more than 10 years of experience piercing babies and children and has pierced more than 1,000 children.

We use a sterile, single-use professional piercing needle for every piercing. We never use piercing guns.

We focus on careful placement, comfort, and creating a calm experience for both baby and parents.

Jewelry

Our basic jewelry is made from implant-grade titanium from professional body-jewelry brands certified by the APP.

We also offer jewelry upgrades in implant-grade titanium and nickel-free solid gold, including different designs and genuine gemstones. Upgrades are available at an additional cost, and we are happy to help you find an option that fits your style and budget.

We do not accept outside jewelry for the initial piercing.

If you already have earrings you would like your baby to wear, we recommend starting with our approved basic jewelry and switching to your own jewelry once the piercings are fully healed, usually around 3–4 months after piercing.

Initial infant piercings are done with straight posts. We do not use hoops or rings for initial healing.

Important Information

We offer this service for babies ages 0–9 months.

After 9 months, TBP offers earlobe piercings starting at 5 years old.

We do not generally recommend piercing children between 1–4 years old because they are more likely to touch, pull, or interfere with the piercings while they heal.

If you would like to ask about an exception, please email us before booking at tacomasbestpiercing@gmail.com.

Placement & Growing Ears

Before piercing, Jessica will evaluate your baby’s ears and carefully mark the placement.

We always consider your baby’s anatomy and future growth when planning the placement.

Babies naturally move during the marking and piercing process, so perfect symmetry cannot be guaranteed. Your baby’s ears will also continue to grow and change, which can affect how the piercings look over time.

We have had great success piercing infants and children, and many of the children we pierce return years later with fully healed piercings and good placement.

How to Prepare

  • Bring a clean, freshly washed blanket so you can swaddle your baby.
  • Bring a favorite toy or familiar item to help keep your baby comfortable. Jangling keys can also work well as a distraction during marking.
  • If your baby is sleeping when you arrive, do not wake them. Sleeping babies can make the marking process easier.
  • Feeding your baby between and after the piercings can help comfort them.
  • Having another adult available can be helpful if your baby needs extra attention.
  • Your baby may cry or be uncomfortable during the piercing. This is normal and can be similar to what happens during a vaccination.

Healing & Aftercare

This service includes sterile saline to take home and detailed aftercare instructions.

During healing:

  • Follow the aftercare instructions we provide.
  • Do not unnecessarily touch, pull, twist, or rotate the jewelry.
  • Keep the area clean.
  • We suggest avoiding swimming and swimming lessons during the 3–4 month healing period, or for as long as possible.
  • If you have concerns about your baby’s healing, please contact us. If your baby appears sick or you have concerns about a medical issue, we recommend contacting your child’s healthcare provider.

Important Medical & Personal Information

Like any piercing, infant ear piercing has potential risks, including irritation, infection, swelling, scarring, migration, and reactions to jewelry.

Keloids and other types of scar tissue are also possible.

It is always a good idea to speak with your child’s primary care provider if you have medical concerns before booking.

Infant ear piercing is an elective cosmetic procedure. Some parents prefer to wait until their child is old enough to choose for themselves, while others choose to have their child’s ears pierced as an infant. Both decisions are personal.

We respect every family’s decision about when they feel their child is ready. Our role is not to judge or influence that decision, but to provide a professional and safety-focused service for families who choose to have their baby’s ears pierced.

Identification Requirements

A parent or legal guardian must be present and sign the paperwork.

For the baby:

  • Birth certificate

For the parent or legal guardian:

  • Driver’s license

WE DO NOT ACCEPT:
