Why not between 6 months and 6 years old?

At our studio, your child’s health and safety are our top priorities. We want every piercing experience to be as smooth, safe, and positive as possible—not just during the appointment, but during the healing process too.
That’s why we’ve made the thoughtful decision not to offer piercings for children between 6 months and 6 years old. Here’s why this age range can be a little tricky when it comes to safe healing:

1. Under 6 Months: No Problem with Touching
Infants younger than 6 months typically don’t have the motor skills to reach for or touch their ears, which means they’re unlikely to interfere with the healing process. While we have strict health and safety protocols, we always recommend speaking with your pediatrician before making any decisions for younger babies.

2. Over 6 Years: Better Understanding = Better Healing
Children over the age of 6 can understand instructions and are usually able to follow simple guidelines—like not touching or playing with their new piercing. This awareness makes healing safer and smoother.

3. The Tough In-Between Stage: from 6 months to 6 years old
Kids between 6 months and 6 years are naturally curious and love to explore with their hands. Unfortunately, they may not understand how important it is to leave a fresh piercing alone. Touching, pulling, or even just playing with the jewelry can increase the risk of irritation, infection, or bumps—which can make healing much harder (and more uncomfortable) for them.

We want your child to have the best possible experience from start to finish, and sometimes that just means waiting for the right time. If you have any questions or would like to plan for the future, we’re always happy to help!
