Do not touch your piercing unless necessary and only ever with clean hands.
Do not remove your jewelry during the healing process (unless you have decided to retire the piercing). If you remove the jewelry during the healing process it will typically close and/or shrink (and then ultimately close) very fast. Have a medical procedure coming up? Check-in with your doctor as to if you can wear a non-metal retainer in your piercing- the answer is typically yes to which we are easily able to sterilize retainers (we carry primarily glass and some silicone options) to temporarily replace your jewelry.
Do not take your jewelry out for extended periods once healed. “Extended” can be defined as 24-72 hours. Some piercings can be healed for years but if taken out for a month will close. Soft tissue such as an earlobe tends to tolerate this better with the exception that it’s not feasible for everyone. To be safe, only remove for extended periods if it is an earlobe piercing- and only when the earlobe piercing has been done for significantly longer than the healing time. Lastly, it is recommended that you frequently check to see that the piercing still easily accepts jewelry.
Please contact us if you have any questions, concerns, etc. Many things that concern clients about their piercing(s) is actually a result of slight user error, snagging, jewelry swapping, etc. Upon emailing us your questions or concerns we will respond to either ask for more information or recommend you come in for a piercer to check out in person. Contacting us with your concerns provides us the best opportunity to resolve any issues you may have with your jewelry or piercings on time.
Lastly, we strongly encourage clients to NOT wear low-quality body jewelry. The jewelry available on Amazon, Etsy, etc. is the price it is due to its lower quality. Well-healed piercings can even take a turn when low-quality body jewelry is introduced to it. If you have seen something online that we don’t have, feel free to inquire about custom ordering here– feel free to send us screenshots as a guide/inspiration.
