Piercing Description
A microdermal is considered "newer technology" in the piercing world. Microdermals are "single-point" piercing that involve the insertion of a "microdermal anchor" placed under the surface of the skin. The microdermal anchor is tapped (internally threaded) - a top/accessory of your choice is screwed into the anchor and is the only visible part of the piercing.
Microdermals were designed to be able to bring piercing to locations that used to be "un-pierce-able", such as the cheek bone, on the chest, hips, back, etc. Microdermals should not/can not be placed in locations with a pulse or where the skin bends/creases/folds (example: the elbow). Here at TBP we offer microdermals above the wrist and from the belt line up.
Lastly, microdermal piercings are considered "long term - temporary piercings"; they can, and often do, eventually begin to reject over time. Microdermals can last anywhere from months to 10+ years depending on how well it is taken care of, avoiding trauma like snags, your own individual body and thoughtful placement at the time of your appointment.
