What is an septum piercing?

A septum piercing is a type of body piercing where a hole is made through the thin strip of skin between the nostrils, known as the septum. After the piercing is made, jewelry such as captive bead rings, circular barbells, or septum clickers can be inserted into the newly formed hole.

Recommended Downsize Timeframe

Not necessary. Although, if the piercee desires a snug fitted ring we recommend waiting a least 4-5 months.

Common “triggers” for septum piercings

Tucking the jewelry up your nose (to hide or otherwise) excessively. Septum piercings can be hidden during the healing process but recommend doing so as little as possible.

For example, The piercee should wear the jewelry tucked during their school or work week and have the jewelry worn down during their “weekend”.

How to clean septum piercing

Once a day

Rinse the piercing by cupping your hands, allowing water to pool and dunking your nose in the pool of water- either at a sink or during showering.
Dry wipe where the jewelry goes in and comes out. We recommend holding the ring steady while doing this as to not have it rotate while wiping.

** Wipe with only DRY, paper towel or gauze. We do not recommend q-tips or cotton products as this can cause fiber buildup on the jewelry especially with prong styles.
