What is a nipple piercing?

A nipple piercing is a type of body piercing where a hole is made through the nipple, and a piece of jewelry is inserted. Nipple piercings can be placed through the nipple itself or through the areola, which is the darker skin surrounding the nipple. Placement may vary depending on individual anatomy and personal preference. Nipple piercings may also be done on one or both nipples.

Average Heal Time: 9 to 12 months
Recommended Downsize Timeframe: 3 to 6 months

These piercings can be done for any number of personal reasons for a client. Due to the sensitive nature of these piercings, it is incredibly important to get them done by a reputable piercer who has experience piercing a wide variety of anatomy types. We are honored to be trusted with this service by a large number of our clients both new and returning.

Common “triggers” for nipple piercings

Seeing as these piercings take quite a while to heal, be more difficult to heal, etc. – we want to disclose what should be avoided during this process;

Snags from clothing, intercourse, use of soaps and body wash in the shower, etc.
Not thoroughly wiping dry to remove discharge and moisture.
Do not remove the jewelry (unless you want to retire the piercing)- we would suggest not removing the jewelry on your own for at least 1 year.

How to keep your nipple piercings clean

Once a day:

Rinse the piercing on either side with water. This is to be saved as the last step before exiting out of the shower. You can also rinse the piercing at a sink.
Spray sterile saline directly on either side of the piercing.
After several minutes have passed, dry wipe where the jewelry goes in and comes out. This is the only time we recommend moving the jewelry if you have to in order to wipe. Wipe under each bead on either side of the piercing and the surrounding skin.

** If need be- you can hold the opposite side of the jewelry as you wipe as well as lightly pushing it away from your nipple to better wipe the entrance.

**Wipe with only DRY, paper towel or gauze. We do not recommend q-tips or cotton products as this can cause fiber buildup on the jewelry especially with prong styles.
