I was always into body modification from a young age. The first piercing I got was my septum piercing when I was 13, it’s the SAME septum piercing I still have to this day. I was heavily influenced by BMEzine. My first professional piercing was my nostril piercing when I was 14 and i'm  still rocking with that same piercing today, too! Before TBP I worked my first piecing-industry job at Body Circle for 3 years making body jewelry before transitioning to front-of-house here at TBP and now  piercing!

I love unique gold pieces with chunky genuine gems or good old fashioned large gauge implant grade steel

History

I was a baby when I first got my earlobes done, which didn’t last long. Around 8 I got them redone. I was 14 when I got my first facial piercing, a nostril piercing. Soon afterwards, I got the other nostril done. At 18, I started out at a tattoo/piercing shop as front-of-house and after some years I decided to become an apprentice. I love the joy piercing + jewelry brings others, it's clear to me that it's my calling to facilitate this for my clients. Before the piercing industry I was working  retail, which I think helped me hone in on my skills with customer service and communications.

I like anything that calls to you. If you know, you know. We have many beautiful designs in white, yellow and rose gold  here at TBP so i've been really getting into that.

I was always interested in piercings but my family was unfortunately against piercings. Nevertheless, my interest still remained! On my 18th birthday I went to my first high-quality piercing studio. I was fascinated by watching everything going on around me, it was then that I knew I wanted to be a part of it! Until I started working here at Tacoma's Best Piercing I was mostly in food/customer service - the fast-paced, chaotic environments really prepared me for working here at TBP and I find myself very grateful for the jobs I’ve had before this.

I was 8 when I got my second holes and was so excited that I asked my mom for two more as soon as I looked in the mirror! I was about the same age when I got obsessed with scrolling through BME online (a piercing and body modification Ezine). I started my piercing apprenticeship when I got out of high school and i've been piercing ever since!

I'm from Costa Rica. My first piercing was a labret piercing when I was 13. I originally studied Process Engineering and have done hotel management, fruit production, and even owned a restaurant in Costa Rica. Now, I get to combine my love for gemstones and jewelry with my engineering background! I love minimalist white gold pieces with green or purple gemstones. But my favorite piece has to be my white gold Gengar. It’s definitely the coolest piece in my collection!

Jessica, a professional piercer,  founded Tacoma’s Best Piercing in 2018 with a vision of creating a welcoming, quality piercing studio for everyone - from first-timers to experienced "piercees". After Jessica and Arnold married in 2020, they began running TBP together. Jessica is from Tacoma, and Arnold is originally from Costa Rica. Today, Arnold works full-time behind the scenes managing operations, scheduling, and all things technical.

My ears were first pierced as a baby. At 13, I got a helix piercing. From then on out, I went down the rabbit-hole of all things piercing and started exploring more piercings for myself. Before TBP I worked as a piercer in a tattoo/piercing studio in Vancouver, WA for about 6 years - piercing, ordering jewelry, etc. Before that, I worked at a different studio in Tennessee.

I was 12 when I got my first body piercing, a nostril piercing on the boardwalk of Myrtle beach. Once I entered preteen/teen years I really wanted to get my "snake bites" pierced and would always try to find reasons to hang out at the piercing studio with my friends. A piercing studio has always offered me a place of acceptable and body postivity that I am grateful I get to share with the community of Tacoma now.

I love surface work, oral piercings, and especially paired vertical labrets! I love pairing piercings in general.
