Appointments Policies
General Identification Policy:
When filling out any release forms for piercing appointments, clients are expected to photograph their ID(s). This is because we need to be able to identify our clients, and in the case of piercing appointments for minors, we need to confirm guardianship.
Since photographing IDs is part of our release forms process, please pay special attention to what ID(s) you upload when booking.
Forms of identification we DO NOT accept:
- Military IDs
- Social Security Cards
- Tax Returns
- Insurance Cards
- Expired IDs
- Punched IDs
Forms of identification we DO accept:
- Driver’s License
- State ID
- Passport
- Birth Certificate for minors (We need photo ID for clients ages 18+)
Policies for Minor Piercings.
Per state of WA regulations and our insurance:
- Minors must be accompanied by parent and/or legal guardian.
- Minors and their guardians must photograph their IDs to prove guardianship.
It is best to have photo ID for both the minor and guardian, but we understand that is not something everyone has.
If the minor and their guardian have the SAME last name:
- The guardian must photograph an ID that shows their full name. Refer to the list above for acceptable IDs.
- The minor must photograph a form of ID that shows their full name. In this case, we accept School IDs.
If the minor and their guardian have DIFFERENT last names:
- The guardian must photograph a state-issued ID.
- In some situations, guardians may have to photograph paperwork showing proof of a name change or notary statement showing change of guardianship or adoption.
- The minor must photograph a state-issued ID. If this is not an option, most schools have online portals (ex. Skyward) where their guardians are listed.
- We will accept screenshots of this portal as long as the names of the minor and guardian are both listed.
We WANT to pierce you as long as it’s by the book. We understand that situations vary, so don’t hesitate to contact us at tacomasbestpiercing@gmail.com with questions/requests surrounding this policy.
Yes, we understand that these measures may seem extreme to some, but they are in place due to:
- Minors finding others (aunts, uncles, friends, etc) to impersonate their parent/legal guardian. This leaves us in a bad position when their parent doesn’t want them to get pierced.
- Our insurance policy.
If you do not upload the correct IDs, we will do our best to reach out to you as soon as possible, and we will likely have you fill out another release forms. If we reach out to you about incorrect information and you fail to respond, we have the right to refuse service, and you may be charged a Cancellation Fee.*
Aftercare Policy:
When filling out our release forms, you must agree to take care of your piercings. All of our starting prices include a bottle of our aftercare (NeilMed Sterile Saline Wound Wash), and our piercers will always go over how to care for your piercings.
You can find specific aftercare instructions here on our website for more information, but it is crucial you keep up with proper aftercare. We provide our clients with the tools they need to heal their piercings.
Risks Policy:
When signing our release forms, you confirm you understand that there are risks to getting pierced. Risks include but are not limited to injury, infection, scarring, keloiding, and allergic reactions.
If you have a known allergy to specific metals/materials, please make a note of this in the appointment notes.
Release Policy:
By signing our release forms, you waive and release to the fullest extent by law that Tacoma’s Best Piercing cannot be held liable for personal injury or otherwise, including direct and/or consequential damages.
Under the Influence or Duress Policy:
When signing our release forms, you confirm that you are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and that you are getting pierced voluntarily.
Eating Policy:
It is STRONGLY suggested that you eat within four hours before your appointment. By signing our release forms, you understand that you should eat before and after getting pierced. If you do not eat before, please let your counter staff know at the time of your appointment.
With this, we always have glucose packets, water, and ice packs on hand. If you feel faint or nauseous during your appointment, please let your piercer and/or counter staff know.
Medical Conditions Policy:
By signing our release forms, you understand that if you have an illness/disease/etc., piercings may affect you differently and/or more severely. With this, you understand that it is your responsibility to consult with your doctor before getting and/or after getting pierced. You’re welcome to list any information pertaining to this policy in the appointment notes.
Permanent Change Policy:
When signing our release forms, you understand that getting a piercing will result in permanent change to your appearance and that your skin may not be restored to its pre-piercing condition even after removal.
Attorney Fees Policy:
By signing our release forms, you agree to reimburse Tacoma’s Best Piercing for any attorney’s fees and costs incurred in any legal action you bring against the members of Tacoma’s Best Piercing.
Service Agreement Policy:
By signing our release forms, you understand that, unless agreed upon by members of Tacoma’s Best Piercing, all sales and services are non-refundable. With this, you also agree to not use hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, tea tree oil, or other harsh chemicals on jewelry as this will corrode it.

Pregnancy Policy:
By signing our release forms, you confirm you are not pregnant.
Minors can receive earlobe piercings at most ages (infancy included, read more about this here).
Minors are NOT ever eligible to receive piercings such as: genital piercings, nipple piercings, microdermals, etc. Our scheduling site does not allow minors to book for certain services.
Body piercing (including cartilage/helix, nostril, navel, etc.) is up to the discretion of the piercer.

While we offer many piercing types, not all of them can be done on all ages. Here is a list of the piercings we offer* and their age requirements:

- Helix: 13yrs +

*We only offer 2nd and 3rd lobe piercings for clients ages 11+. If the placement is in the cartilage, we won’t be able to pierce them if they are younger than 13!

Appointments
Clients that book appointments with us are expected to read and acknowledge basic pricing before making their appointment and/or coming in.
Piercees that do not understand basic pricing beforehand, come in without valid ID (for themselves or their minor), or decide not to get pierced/serviced last minute will be charged a non refundable cancellation fee.
We do our best to provide the best experience for our clients, and this means our time must be used wisely. We expect our clients to come to their appointments on time and to reach out if they need to reschedule.
In the case that a client does not come to their appointment, has not communicated with us, etc.; “No-Call/No Show” fees are the starting price of whatever service was booked- as noted on each booking selection (and on our website).
Clients that arrive to their appointments too late to be serviced (we offer a 5 minute grace period) OR cancel within 3 hours of their appointment may be asked to reschedule.
If no same day accommodations can be made we will take a deposit of half of the starting price of whatever service was booked; this fee can be reused/rolled over in the future for the same booking made within 3 weeks of the original appointment. Should the client choose not to reschedule, cancel the appointment they rescheduled, etc. this deposit will be forfeited.
We offer to roll over this fee one time and one time only.
Please note that bookings can sometimes be made within our cancellation policy of 3 hours. Our cancellation policy as stated is universal regardless of when the booking is made.
Clients that choose not to get pierced last minute, walk out during their appointment, etc. will be charged a “No-Call/No Show” fee being the entire amount of the starting price of their booked service(s).
We ask that clients text us at (253)301-9861 in regards to late arrivals, not being able to make it, etc. so we can work with the client :) We want to remind you all that we are a small business- appointments that clients miss are time slots that we may or may not have a walk in to fill that slot (this doesn’t happen often, and would be lucky); appointments also take up space on our schedule meaning that we may deny a walk in or another appointment request in hopes that our clients keep their word.
Walk-Ins

We love seeing people whether it be appointments OR walk ins!
Walk ins are welcome and are served on a first come first serve basis. Piercings generally do not take long to so wait time will vary depending on the day and the volume- staff is not allowed to give an estimated wait time over the phone (as people can come in between the time that said phone call ends and said person on the phone comes in).
We stop taking walk ins at either the time of close each day OR when to service the existing amount of walk ins and/or appointments will reach closing time.
*There is no wait time limit- clients are given an estimated wait time and they are more than welcome to wait in our lobby. During this time we often have clients fill out paper work and choose jewelry.
